HIV prevention in Kenya
The project “Prevention, nutrition and complex support for children and families living with HIV/AIDS” was implemented by Magna Children at risk in Kenya in the framework of the Official Development Assistance (ODA) of the Slovak Republic.
Conclusions of the Ex-post evaluation
Mothers with HIV/AIDS and their children highly benefited from the complex health and psychosocial support.
Above all, the transmission from mothers with HIV/AIDS to their children reduced from about 25-50% to around 5%.
Nevertheless, the project was not sustained after the donor funding ceased and some families were not economically self-reliant to provide necessary support to those living with HIV/AIDS.
